Hi, I’m Matt.

The picture says I’m doing great, my head said otherwise. I had hit a wall.

The last 18 months have been nothing short of life changing for me, I had to admit that I was struggling. I, like a lot of us, had been slowly burning out, juggling past, present and future plans, never truly present. Time. I had none. Even when I did, I wasted it on my phone or in my head, planning and worrying.

I got here the long way round.

Twenty five years producing events, global brand campaigns, private work in the superyacht world, to immigrating here, starting a family and turning a small family business into a brand. Then. Bang. I hit a wall, burnout, stuck in my head and withdrawing from friends and family. It showed up in a pattern of poor sleep, not feeling present, being snappy and cranky for no reason. Is this a midlife crisis?

The thing that really shifted

was consistently doing something that forced me to get out of my head, do something challenging and feel some kind of reward at the end. A friend suggested we go and try contrast therapy using sauna and ice to shift our moods. To say the experience was profound is an understatement. Ultimately this experience led me to find breath. Nasal breathing became my focus as for the first time in 45 years I had the key to unlock my nervous system and use it as a tool to improve my sleep, reduce my stress and be present with my loved ones.

Now, I help people of all ages assess their breathing, unlearn the habits they’ve picked up without noticing, and understand how our nervous system is affected by dysfunctional breathing.

I come into schools, businesses and homes.

Wherever people are wound up, running on empty, or lying awake at three in the morning. I use Patrick McKeown’s Oxygen Advantage methodology to assess, measure and track your biochemical, biomechanical and psychophysiological markers to build mental and physical resilience.

My mind’s on constant loop, I’m just so tired all the time, and never do anything or see anyone. I just need to STOP, ASSESS AND RESET.

We have the power to flip the switch.

The key to relieving stress, improving sleep and feeling better has been right in front of your face the whole time. We discover, adopt and maintain nasal breathing from here on in. Back to your natural balance using nose & diaphragm, light and slow.

Mouth breathing = fight + flight
nasal breathing = rest + digest.

I asked a well known breath & contrast practitioner where’s a good place to start my training and was directed to Patrick McKeown’s Oxygen Advantage. I am now a certified Functional & Advanced Breath Instructor and a Certified Contrast Therapy Instructor having trained with Dean Gladstone; Power of the Breath.

MATT, Men Are Talking Together

Men only. Sauna, cold plunge, breath and real conversation. Your call how you do it — just me and you, a few of us, or a bigger group. A space to say the things that have been going round your head.
